City of Darwin provides a wide range of recreational facilities where families, young people and children can all enjoy Darwin’s tropical vibrant lifestyle.
FREEPS (Free Recreation and Entertainment for Everyone in the Parks) is a fun-filled program that gives both young and old the opportunity to enjoy and participate in free recreational activities and entertainment in Darwin’s local parks
The Fun Bus is a mobile playgroup service jointly funded by City of Darwin and the Northern Territory Government. Children aged between 0 - 5 years are welcome to attend with their parents and carers.
Fun in the Parks is a Council funded school holiday program focused on the primary school age group and held at various ovals and parks around Darwin. Activities include water play, art and craft and games.
Council has many playgrounds throughout Darwin which are free to access and provide varying levels of activity challenge.
Also at the Jingili Water Gardens is a junior level skate park which provides hours of fun for children and young people on their skateboards.
City of Darwin has three swimming pools located at Parap, Nightcliff and Casuarina which are normally open seven days a week to get details of operating hours and location. For further information please click here.
Public tennis courts are located in Parap, Nightcliff and Rapid Creek. They can be used free of charge and you don't need to make a booking. They are only available for daytime use. Behind the tennis courts in Parap you will also find netball courts. They may be used free of charge and bookings for their use are not required.
