Katherine Public Library

Katherine Public Library is provided by Katherine Town Council with assistance from the Northern Territory Government. The library has over 24,000 items in collection, including a special collection of books and other items about the Northern Territory and Katherine Region. Our wide range of items for loan include novels and non-fiction book, large print books, graphic novels, books in other langauges, DVDs, videos, CD-ROMs, music CDs, spoken word and magazines. Children's Storytime is held each Wednesday at 10:30 -11:30am. Each session includes a story telling, craft, song and dancing. These sessions are literacy based aimed to introduce young children to the library and the wonderful world of books. Events and Holidays Programs are held throughout the year. Inter Library Loans is available when we do not provide a specific item but another NT library does. Home Service is offered for people who are unable to visit the library due to illness of age. Computers are available for public use and includes word processing, internet and printing. Bookings are recommended. Wireless internet access is also available. Tours and Introductory Visits for schools and public can be arranged. If you are new to the library, we can guide you through the information jungle and assist with using the library's facilities. Staff are committed to providing quality service to our patrons and are here to help and assist you so that you may enjoy and learn from the information provided.
