Bellarine Peninsula

The Bellarine area has it all for families, from the most simple things like bike rides and sandcastles on some of the most amazing beaches, to camping or staying in the city at a family friendly accommodation. The fantastic Bellarine Rail Trail runs from Geelong to Queenscliff and has an old steam train running along all year round! You can visit the National Wool Museum, a tramp park, shopping centre or play mini golf. Something for everyone to see and do.

You don’t have to travel far to feel like you’re on holidays and there’s no better place to bring the family for a short getaway or extended break than Geelong and The Bellarine. There’s always a reason to visit Geelong. There’s a year-round calendar of events ranging from sport and festivals to culture and arts. There is plenty of wide open spaces in gorgeous locations where the kids can learn to ride, burn off that endless energy, with playgrounds, grassy hills, beaches and skate parks. Some of the best spots include Western Beach and Queenscliff Foreshore. The You Yangs Regional Park is a great place to pack a picnic and take a hike. The few is fantastic and you might come across some native animals along the way. If the kids get sick of the open space and playgrounds, the activities are endless in Geelong and the Bellarine. The mammoth theme park in Wallington, Adventure Park, is one that will be a hit with the whole family. The Bellarine Railway is one not to miss with a vintage steam train ride or a day out with Thomas. You can take the train one way and ride your bike back the other along the Bellarine Rail Trail. Bellarine Adventure Golf has two courses which will challenge the family! Geelong has two fantastic trampoline parks which have trampolines, games and fun activities to keep the kids entertained when the weather gets bad. In the middle of the Geelong Waterfront is The Carousel. Have a ride on one of the horses and then have an ice cream and explore the waterfront. The National Wool Museum has a exciting and informative collections of children’s exhibits. Just down the road is Queenscliff, it has an interesting history and is a quaint seaside town, fishing village and old military base. You can learn and experience all this history through tours at Fort Queenscliff, a walk along the main street, high tea at Vue Grand or having a look at the Queenscliff Maritime Museum. Geelong and The Bellarine has such a range of things to do and experience with families, you will be coming back again and again!
