Water Play in Darwin

The climate in Darwin means that it is always a good time to get out and take the kids to cool off in one of the awesome FREE water play areas around Darwin. No where in Australia are there soooo many great FREE water parks!

The Darwin Waterfront is a beautiful spot. It has a man made sea water lagoon with sandy edges situated next to a big shaded grassy area. There is so much space for the kids to run around, build a sandcastle or swim whilst you sit under one of the beautiful trees and read a book.
Next to the lagoon is the Wave Lagoon, which costs to enter, but it is worth it.

The Wave Lagoon has toddler pools and a wave pool which creates ten different wave patterns with the highest wave reaching 1.7 meters, which means the whole family can get in there and enjoy the waves!
Both lagoons at the Waterfront Precinct are patrolled by lifeguards during business hours.

The Leanyer Water Park is by far one of the best water play areas in Darwin. You won’t believe all the facilities on offer for families. They have three giant waterslides, a large toddler pool and an amazing array of contraptions designed to ensure everyone gets very wet and has a fun time whilst doing so!! The best part about this water park is …. It is FREE!!! A day out, cooling down from the heat, the kids will be so grateful and all for not one cent! Winning!

A must see for families looking for some water play is the Palmerston Water Park. Get the kids, or just do it yourself, and take on the six-lane speed slide challenge, or enjoy the toddler’s wet area with a shallow wading pool and water activities to keep them entertained. I love the big tipping bucket! Following along from the Leanyer Water Park, the Palmerston one is also …. FREE!!!!

Casuarina Square Mall isn’t just a mall … it has a great water play area for toddlers in particular, but I am sure all kids will have fun. The Quarter Water Play area has a moving sphere-shaped ball where the water comes out and the kids can press the on button for the water fountains, which spout out water. It also features a cascading water area with animal figurines (so all those animal loving kiddies will love seeing that).

Don’t have a pool? No problems, because you can get out in Darwin, cool down and let the kids burn their energy at one of these awesome local water parks. Enjoy!!!
