October 12 @ 11:00 am - October 13 @ 3:00 pm AEDT

Lemony S Puppet Theatre, Parrot Ox, and Bowery Theatre proudly present, as a part of the 2024 Melbourne Fringe Festival

Ada, Asmin and The Analytical Engine
Written by Sarah Kriegler and Deniz Aslan
Directed by Sarah Kriegler and Jacob Williams

Travel through space and time on a journey of discovery and connection with this inspiring Melbourne premiere season.

Asmin, a newly arrived Turkish refugee, is struggling with remote learning when a magical cat (and the wonders of cyberspace) leads her to Victorian-era mathematician Ada Lovelace. Connected across time, together they find commonality in numbers and philosophy, and inspiration to follow their dreams.

In this imagined place, shaped by real events, this exciting new work explores how far we have come in education rights for girls, how far we have to go, and the world-altering shifts that occur when we empower young women to reach their full potential.

Made in collaboration with math teacher and Turkish refugee, Deniz AslanAda, Asmin and The Analytical Engine marries the real-life experiences of girls worldwide who have been denied an education with the story of Ada Lovelace, and her world-altering inventions.

Running for two shows only at Bowery Theatre in St AlbansAda, Asmin and The Analytical Engine is an inspiring new adventure told through the beautiful magical realism for which Lemony S Puppet Theatre are renowned.

An award-winning independent theatre company with a big reputation, Lemony S Puppet Theatre have a commitment to extending the form of puppetry beyond what is expected and constantly re-invent their practice, developing new styles and performance techniques. “… my heart was so full, I felt like I could float into the sky, defying gravity.” – ArtsHub (Little Blue Dot)
“Picasso and his Dog is as finely devised and realised piece of theatre, of any kind, as you will see. For children, who deserve nothing but the best in their early experience of the arts, it is a gift beyond measure.” – See Saw Magazine
