During June, children will have the chance to become mini food explorers in an exciting, hands-on activation.
Developed by health promotion foundation VicHealth in partnership with Museums Victoria, the Secret World of Food takes kids on an interactive food journey, aimed at getting them to think about where food comes from.
Equipped with a food passport, kids collect stamps as they move through various stages of the food cycle, including:
– Start in the Soil: kids begin by picking fresh ‘produce’ from the soil.
– Loading the truck: help load the fresh food on the truck and deliver it to the market.
– To Market, to Market: Here, young food explorers can buy fruits and vegetables, or help sell the produce.
– Kitchen Capers: they move to the kitchen to assist a messy chef in cooking up some dishes.
– Worming About: kids help place leftover food ‘scraps’ into the compost, so the worms can work their magic.
