Are you a father, father figure or male caregiver?
Join us for this new, unique program designed specifically to support fathers, father figures and male caregivers in children’s lives.
These programs have been co-designed by the Discovery Space team, and Early Start researchers Amy Hofmeier, Dr Jane Herbert, seeking to create a space where fathers and father-figures can build stronger connections with their children and learn from experts about the unique impact they have on their child’s life.
We know that fathers play a critical role in their children’s development. Studies highlight that children with engaged, warm fathers have fewer emotional and behavioural problems, are more self-confident and prosocial, and perform better academically. Despite this growing body of evidence there is a clear lack of social support and resources to help men develop their skills and confidence in parenting.
The Dad Space program, co-designed by Early Start researchers and Discovery Space staff, seeks to bridge that gap by creating a space where fathers and father-figures can build stronger connections with their children, learn from experts about the unique impact they have on their child’s life, and meet other fathers to share their parenting experiences with. When we support fathers, we support whole families.
Fridays, October 25 to December 20 – 10 AM
