BackStage StoryProjects – Darwin Entertainment Centre

Just beyond the curtain, lies hidden worlds of glamour, ghosts and secrets.
Sneak BackStage with the makers of ATMOS as they wipe away the heavy makeup to expose the truth, lies, mishaps and magic of life in the theatre and our own lives.

A combination of immersive theatre, audio storytelling, dance and performance, BackStage will surprise and delight as you’re wrapped within glitzy and gritty dressing room walls and then catapulted through time and space to explore the real lives of performers.

The creative team at StoryProjects, with directors Alyson Evans and Lori Uden, invite you to be part of this new site responsive and immersive work, delving into the stories of theatres to reveal vulnerability, joy, despair and triumph. In a year that has seen live performance decimated, BackStage shines an important light on the real people who are often hidden under fancy wigs and sparkling sequins, or forgotten behind centre stage curtains or cloak room doors.

BackStage is a one-hour immersive theatre and audio experience that takes place in various locations throughout Darwin Entertainment Centre. Small groups will begin their hour long journey ‘backstage’ at staggered start times – please take note of your booking start time and arrive at least 10 minutes beforehand. Please note, you will be required to walk between locations and there will be periods of standing and use of steps and staircases, which may present challenges to people with limited mobility.

Come, roam the places and spaces that are the BackStage of Darwin Entertainment Centre!
