Set against Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable score\, this performer and audience favourite will transport you into a magical world. \nFor the first time in Darwin\, Duprada Dance Company will present Les Sylphides. This ethereal and romantic ballet is set to the music of Frédéric Chopin and choreographed by Michel Fokine. French in origin\, it is a non-narrative ballet about sylphs dancing in the moonlight\, and is known as the first ballet to focus on mood and atmosphere. Duprada Dance Company originally performed Les Sylphides in 1984 at its inaugural performance. \nThe program also showcases the Company’s extensive range of dance styles with a high-energy jazz performance featuring toe-tapping songs from across the ages and Body Sculptures – a piece choreographed by Leisa Jackson and first performed in Singapore in 2007. \nThis season marks the Company’s 25th year. It celebrates the thousands of students who have danced through the studio discovering creativity\, building friendships and developing life-long skills.
