DESCRIPTION:Royal Yacht Club of Victoria is the perfect venue for families\, and children in particular\, to learn to sail. The Club understands the importance of quality training for both adults and children. Tackers is a program aimed at giving every junior Australian the opportunity to go sailing in a professional\, safe and fun environment. \n\n\n \nThe Tackers Junior sailing program is a program for primary school aged children 7-12 years of age. Designed around kids\, for kids\, the Tackers junior sailing program seeks to provide a vibrant new approach to sail training that recognises that the learning styles of children differs from those of adults. We also offer Youth OutThere programs for 13 – 17 year olds and Adult keelboat programs for those coming into sailing later in life \n\n\n \nThe program is based around some core values that inform everything that is delivered and communicated about the program. Kids don’t need to have any sailing experience and they don’t need to have their own boat. All the equipment\, including life jackets and boats\, is provided. They don’t even need to be a member of the Club to participate\, though of course we would be delighted if ultimately they decided to join up. \n\n\n \nTo enrol in a course you can click the course you are interested in and enrol online. \n\n\n \nTackers Values: \n\n\n \n\n\nKid Centric \n\n\n\n\n\nNon-competitive\, fun and social \n\n\n\n\n\nDelivered by professional\, young\, instructors \n\n\n\n\n\nProgram consistent across locations \n\n\n\n\n\nBranded modern presentations \n\n\n\n\n\nTarget kids outside of existing yacht club membership \n\n\n\n\n\nValue for money relative to programs in other sports \n\n\n\n\n\nGraduate pathway over several steps and seasons \n\n\n\n\n \nTackers Intro \n\n\n \nIdeal for first-time sailors that are not yet ready to commit to a full Tackers 1 \n\n\n \nTacker Intro is the first day of a Tackers 1 course and is great for children that are not sure if they will enjoy Sailing.  We keep a spot available for the Tackers Intro children to continue for the full Tackers 1 course if they enjoy the Intro. \n\n\n \nTackers 1 – Having Fun \n\n\n \nIdeal for first-time sailors \n\n\n \nTackers 1 introduces children to the basics of sailing in a safe and exciting environment. DESCRIPTION:We invite you to come along and join us each month to check hollows for our resident Krefft’s gliders. \nMeeting point: Willsmere Park Pavilion \nWe will be on hand to help you spot\, learn about and record your sightings\, as we focus on the amazing gliders that call Boroondara home. \nPlease wear appropriate clothing and shoes for an outdoor walk along uneven ground. Please bring a water bottle and be prepared for the weather. Please note\, there will be no handling of wildlife during the hollow checks and participants will be required to remain on the paths as requested by Council staff. Staff will access the hollows with cameras and participants will assist with viewing hollows from camera screens and data collection from a small distance on paths. No participants will be required/approved to enter bushland under any circumstances. \nThis is part of an ongoing monthly monitoring project and we would love your help with this data collection. \nGetting to the event\nThe closest public parking to the event is at Willsmere Park Pavilion\, near the intersection of Willow Grove and Wattle Road in Kew East. We’ll meet at the pavilion and then walk down to the location together. \n\nAccessibility at this space\nAccessibility features include: \n\n\n\nquiet areas\nwide passageways\nrest area for assistance animals.
