After skirting Port Phillip Bay on the edge of the city of Geelong\, our R class steam locomotive (with diesel assistance) will work hard to lift our heavy sleeper train through the hills of the Golden Plains\, travelling along the original mainline between Ballarat and Geelong from 1862.\nFollowing a pick up stop at Ballarat\, we will venture north through the Goldfields to Maryborough – the station with a town attached. Here there will be a short stop to wander into town and have lunch while the locomotive takes on water. Rejoin the train for a spirited run through Dunolly and into the rolling hills of the Mallee – before arriving at Wycheproof\, 344 kilometres from Melbourne by rail.\nDisembark the train at your leisure for dinner at one of the local pubs before settling into your accommodation either On-Train or in Motels. \nDay 2 – Sunday 19th October 2025\nTime is provided to take a morning walk through town and to enjoy a complimentary buffet style breakfast at the Royal Mail Hotel. Enjoy views of R711 steaming up and down Broadway before rejoining the train in style – all passengers will board the train in the middle of the main street! Are you brave enough to step into the abandoned\, dark corners of the park\, through hidden alleys and backstage corridors where the carnival’s most twisted characters live and play. \n End-Of-The-Line Darkness Experience – Step aboard. Face the dark. The spirits are waiting. Hidden at the far end of the park\, a legendary fortune teller awaits aboard Luna Dark’s abandoned tram. Step inside for a glimpse into your future\, if you dare. \nFamily Fun by Day – The Wizz Fizz Trick or Treat Harvest of Horrors zone\, Monster Bash games\, roaming Wizz Fizz Monsters\, and fang-tastic costume parades with prizes. The Ghastly Glamour Parlour\, (SFX makeup by Melbourne Polytechnic) will transform you into a ghoulish figure. \n Nighttime Thrills – Haunted Spirits Bar (18+)\, roaming zombies and ghouls\, and live entertainment.
