City of Melbourne – Small Friends Storytelling

Explore the world of micro-organisms through storytelling, watercolour painting, drawing and discussion with artists Scale Free Network (Briony Barr and Dr Gregory Crocetti), Ailsa Wild and Aviva Reed. The Squid, the Vibrio and the Moon is the first book in the Small Friends series; stories about partnerships in nature between big creatures and very small creatures – micro-organisms! In this art-science workshop, you will meet Sepio, a Bobtail squid and Ali, a bacterium who can glow in the dark. Can they help one another? What can we learn from their adventure? Incorporating storytelling, watercolour painting, drawing and discussion, the session will be presented by a group of artists, writers and scientists who will guide you on this journey into the microscopic world. For ages 5 to 8 years Children must be accompanied by an adult.
