The City of Swan is bringing Pop up Play to Kingfisher Reserve, Ballajura.
What is Pop up Play?
Pop up Play is a range of ‘loose parts’ material such as logs, pipes, tyres, timber and shade cloth that allows children to play in diverse, imaginative and creative ways. To quote American Professor of Psychiatry, Kay Redfield Jamison, “Children need the freedom and time to play. Play is not a luxury. Play is a necessity.”
How does ‘loose parts’ play benefit children?
Loose parts play invites children to be creative, experiment and most of all have fun. Unstructured play has been shown to assist child development in a multitude of areas including physical ability, social interaction, creativity and problem-solving.
