Its body is a gong, its head is a cymbal, its wattle a bell, its beak and leg are flutes, its feet are piccolos and panpipes form its comb. These roosters symbolize the continuity of Chinese tradition in the spiritual home of Chinese New Year, Chinatown.
The Rooster Lantern narrates stories about time and space poetically through music. The award-winning young composer, Australian-born Chinese, Andrew Zhou, has collaborated with his mother Tianli Zu to compose the music for this artwork. Viewers are invited to participate by hitting the gong.
