DESCRIPTION:Tuggeranong Arts Centre’s October school-holiday program gives children a chance to show off their creativity. Guided by a team of professional artists\, musicians\, dancers\, and actors\, the one-day Art and Action program is an action-packed visual and performing arts school holiday explosion of creative joy. Everyone will start the day playing theatre sports and other drama games before breaking into smaller classes based on age. Students will take part in art classes exploring painting on canvas\, with the opportunity to take home their masterpieces at the end of the day. Fresh Funk dance tutors will introduce young ones to Street-funk dance\, giving participants the opportunity to learn a dance routine and have fun exploring this popular style of dance. Dan has a great way of helping young actors gain confidence in voice projection and characterisation\, script-writing\, working in small groups and performing on the stage. Having grown up on the stage\, Daniel brings natural talent as well as academic qualifications to his theatre workshops. An experienced tutor in drama\, writing and musicals\, he brings out the best in his students with his humour and warm teaching style. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nDaniel Streatfield. Completing a Bachelor of Arts at ANU\, she was the recipient of the BCC Patron Award for her graduating work. Following her time at ANU\, Gina went on to study Conservation and Land Management\, and Horticulture\, fostering her interest in the natural world. Gina has exhibited her work within the ACT and surrounds\, and is interested in exploring nature and its intersections with art. She is passionate about teaching students of all ages as well celebrating art in all of its embodiments. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nGina Chapman. She founded and directs the band\, The Ukeladies\, improvises on violin at many venues around Canberra\, is conductor of the Andante Andante ABBA choir. Join MAGNT Curator Emeritus of Molluscs\, Dr Richard Willan\, for an exciting tour through this gallery. \nSuitable for ages 5 to 16 years | Free | Places are limited | Bookings recommended \nAdult supervision essential and a limit of one accompanying adult per booking applies. \nPlease cancel your booking if you are no longer able to make it to free up tickets for others. \nKey Information \nParticipants must be able to remain standing for up to 60 minutes as there will be limited places to sit. \nRegister at the Information Desk in the foyer 15-minutes prior to the start of the program. \nThis talk starts at 11am in the Natural Science Gallery. \nMAGNT Conditions of Entry \nFood and beverage is not permitted inside MAGNT gallery spaces\, Theatrette and/or Discovery Centre. DESCRIPTION:Step inside the Discovery Centre and develop new skills through a series of fun activities that give children a chance to explore science\, technology\, engineering\, art and maths at MAGNT. Run by STEAM Lead Educator\, Caitlin Conway\, this drop-in session is perfect for children with curious and creative minds who want to create\, investigate and learn more about the Dalirrgang season that sweeps across Larrakia Country and is affectionately known as the Build-up! \nSession One | 10.30am – 12pm \nSession Two | 1pm – 2.30pm \nSuitable for families with children aged 4 to 12 | Free | Limited Spaces | Drop in activity | Bookings not required \nRemember to cancel your booking if you are no longer able to make it to free up tickets for others. \nKey Information \nPlease register at the Information Desk in the Foyer 15 minutes prior to the start of the program. \nThe workshop will be held in the Discovery Centre\, people must register at the Information Desk before entering the workshop space. \nMAGNT Conditions of Entry \nFood and beverage is not permitted inside MAGNT gallery spaces\, Theatrette and/or Discovery Centre. All snacks and drink bottles must be stowed in a locker behind the Information Desk. \nBottled water is permitted on the understanding the bottle is carried in a bag at all times and no water is consumed inside MAGNT gallery spaces. \nBackpacks and large bags\, greater than 30cm on any one side (width\, depth and/or length) must be stowed in a locker. \nNappy bags greater than 30cm on any one side and/or containing liquids and food must also be stowed in a locker. \nWheeled shipping trolleys and pull along carts are not permitted inside MAGNT gallery spaces nor are skateboards or rollerblades. \nAll organic material in your possession\, including flowers and/or feathers collected on MAGNT grounds must be disposed of or left at the Information Desk before entering the galleries\, Theatrette and/or Discovery Centre. \nMAGNT acknowledges the traditional owners of Country across the Northern Territory and beyond\, and pays respect to Elders past\, present and emerging. \nImage: Dalirrgang\, Darwin. DESCRIPTION:How does your child see you? Become the subject of your child’s imagination with an artwork that uses your face as their canvas!  \n\n\nWith our ever-growing appetite to document our lives through photos and selfies\, children are so often the reluctant subjects of their parent’s cameras; asked to smile\, look natural\, look that way\, and come in closer.   \n I See you Like This turns the camera back and allows children to see their parents as subjects through the lens of their own imaginations.  \n Children are given permission to observe and portray their parent\, while parents are able to experience being ‘seen’ by their child. Each child artist chooses an object\, which best represents this adult subject\, before art directing a creative portrait directly onto their face! \nI See You Like This is an acclaimed interactive art experience created by Jessica Wilson with designer Matilda Woodroofe to celebrate the fascinating relationship that is at the heart of individual identity – between parent and child. It has toured Australia\, Europe and the USA amassing a collection of nearly 2000 portraits!
