North Sydney

North Sydney
North Sydney is a business district across the harbour from the CBD. The North mostly houses residents and businesses. The Rocks and Circular Quay are located North, which are the older areas of the city, and Central Station is situated South. To the West you’ll find Darling Harbour and to the East, many of beautiful parklands. The CBD and Harbour were the original area settled when Arthur Phillip established an English penal colony in the “Rocks” in 1788. Today, the area is a tourist mecca for families rubbing shoulders with Sydneysiders commuting to work via the extensive ferry system. The kids will love the ferries! The remarkable Queen Victoria shopping centre expands over a whole block and faces the Sydney Town Hall constructed way back in the 1880s. Be sure to reach the top of the Sydney Tower and experience the height of the tallest structure in the country. The views will be worth it. The Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House are must visits when in Sydney. Walk across the bridge and see the boats and ferries powering through below in the harbor. Take a tour of the Opera House and see on of the world class performance facilities. Sydney has so much happening that there is sure to be something for everyone in the family, with plenty to see and do for a weekend trip or for school holidays!
