The Sutherland Shire takes up a large amount of the southern suburbs of Sydney. It has a great collection of beaches and National Parks.
Cronulla comprises Sydney’s longest beach (6km in fact). That’s a lot of space to lay on the beach or ride some waves! It’s a surfers dream come true at Gunnamatta, meaning “beach and sandhills”, and very fitting. Today, it has an outdoor café scene that offers a great vantage point where you may be able to spot dolphins! There’s so much to do at Cronulla. Fish off the coast, hike a scenic path, whale-watch or relax on the quiet beaches. Just south you will find Bundeena, a serene village you can access by ferry. Just a short walk from Bundeena wharf you can drop by the local Bundeena Markets featuring products from several local artists and natural products.
Nearby, at Loftus, you can find the Sydney Tramway Museum. There are at least eighty trams from around the globe. Why not take a ride on one of the Bondi Trams? The kids will love being able to walk through the different trams from all over Australia, then jump on one for a ride up the old tram line! They run during School Holidays, so add this to the list of places to take the kids.
The Southern Suburbs has so many things to do with families, we are sure that everyone will find something they love.
