ACT – Australia’s capital city, Canberra, is nestled between two mountains – Black Mountain and Mt Ainslie and is located on the ancient lands of the Indigenous Ngunnawal people, who call it “Kamberra” meaning “meeting place”.  Well considering it is the place chosen for our Federal Parliament to meet, then it is well named!! After school, on the weekend, for the holidays, in the city, by the lake, in the hills, or at the myriad of parks in and around Canberra there are hundreds of things to do. Historic museums, natural beauty, national sporting teams, hands on learning experiences – Canberra is full of surprises!  There is really no other place where so much is all so close. Canberra City is known as “Civic” and is situated on the banks of Lake Burley Griffin  (named for the architect of the city) and is dotted with interesting places to visit and engage with. It forms one point of the “Parliamentary Triangle” together with Parliament House and Defence Headquarters.  It sounds serious, but it is  jam-packed with fun family activities.
