Wollongong

Learn to surf or paddleboard with one of the surfing schools located along the coast. Or simply bring your shovel, bucket and body board and create your own fun.

With over 60 kilometres of cycle ways in and around Wollongong, cycling is an excellent way to explore the city and all that it has to offer.

 Alternatively, you can stroll the beautiful Blue Mile and take in Wollongong’s stunning harbour and ocean front cafes. Whilst you’re strolling the harbour, take note of Wollongong’s rich history as you explore the preserved forts and cannons that dot the Blue Mile.

Wollongong also boasts a plethora of family friendly attractions including the Science Centre and Planetarium, Symbio Zoo, Jamberoo Action Park, The Illawarra Museum, The Australia Motorlife Museum and the Nan Tien Temple – the largest Buddhist Temple in the Southern Hemisphere!

Towradgi is home to the fantastic Wollongong Surf Resort, a real treat for families to stay at with pool, tennis courts, mini golf. It is also located right on the beach! Across the road is Towradgi Beach Hotel which has great family meals and playground for the kids.

The Fraternity Club in Fairy Meadow is a fantastic option for families looking for dinner. The huge club has something for everyone, from theatre shows, to movie/disco nights, pizza bar and playground.

North of Wollongong, is Bulli which has a range of family friendly accommodation options right on the beach. The town has a colonial feel with the buildings and architecture. Bulli hosts the Illawarra Folk Festival annually too.
