Echuca /Moama

Echuca/Moama is on the join of the Murray River and Campaspe River and not too far from the Goulburn River. Situated on the Murray River, Echuca is the closest town to Melbourne which is actually on the rivers edge. It’s also the perfect place for a relaxing holiday with plenty things to do for families.

The historic Echuca Port Precinct is known as one of Australia’s premium heritage icons and is houses the largest paddleboat fleet in the whole world. The heyday of paddle steamers and river trade has left a historic legacy on Echuca and much of its tourism is built upon this today.

The port area has undergone some significant renovation and restoration in the last few years and now boasts an interpretative centre as well as the old favourites like paddle steamer trips, horse and carriage rides, the olde world penny arcade at Sharps, ice cream parlours, workshops demonstrating the trades of the day, as well as plenty of cafes and beautifully restored pubs from the golden age of the riverboat trade.

You can step back in time and experience the magic of the paddlesteamers era by taking a cruise on one of the fully restored boats. Murray River Paddlesteamers love kids and will make sure the family truly feels like they have stepped back in time to the paddlesteamers era when you take a cruise on one of their steam driven vessels.

Stepping back into modern times, in Echuca Moama there is something for every member of the family. Hire a canoe or take a horse and carriage ride; take off on a horse riding adventure; zoom around in a go-kart; take an adrenalin fueled water ski lesson; challenge your friends or family to a laser or paintball skirmish; explore a maze or play a round of mini golf; go 10 pin bowling; head for a swim at the river or in a pool; dangle a line on a fishing tour; visit the fauna park; take an eco tour through the wetlands; or explore a food and wine trail.

The Sharps Magic Movie House & Penny Arcade, is home to a 1930s amusement arcade. Play games on one of the 50 classic arcade machines. Watch an old comedy movie on the big screen. It also has an awesome shop with fudge and old style lollies!
