Warrnambool is the end of the road and it is jam packed with things to do for families.
Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village is an existing historical village that shows how the 19th century port and town looked. It has a large maritime shipwreck collection and sits on a fantastic site which looks down the bluff and towards Lady Bay.
Stroll through and explore the village that has over 40 buildings and vessels. The Chest Challenge Trail will keep the kids entertained throughout the village, and all kids receive a bag of nibbles for the farm animals that they will discover as they explore.
Just out of Warrnambool is Tower Hill, which is home to some of the most amazing geological formations. It has a very strong and important place for the local Aboriginal history and has some of the best native wildlife. Tower Hill is made up of a large volcanic crater with a volcanic ash lying around. Some of the wildlife that you may spot is native birds, koalas, kangaroos, emus and much more.
The Adventure Playground at Lake Pertobe is an attraction that the kids will absolutely love. It is a 20 hectare playground with flying foxes, boat rides, a maze to explore and giant slides. The tracks around the lake are awesome for a walk or bike ride. The park also has a great picnic area with sheltered areas and a BBQ.
So hit the road and come explore the south west, you will be surprised how many things there are to do!
BeachFest is an incredible family event offering a range of (mostly free) beachside activities from December 27 to Australia Day.
Surfside Holiday Park is the only park in Warrnambool that has direct access to the Beach and the beautiful Lady Bay and close to Flagstaff Hill.
