Wanneroo – Mullaloo Beach, Yanchep, Joondalup
The City of Wanneroo is close to Perth and easily accessed by the Mitchell Freeway so you’ll be in this wonderfully diverse area before the kids will have time to say “Are we there yet?”
It is only 20 minutes from Perth and is home to a number of well kept secrets that offer visitors some unique experiences.
Explore the pristine beaches, underground caves or go canoeing on the lake. Try mini golf, go karting or bike riding in peaceful surroundings.
Just north of Wanneroo, you will find Yanchep National Park (see above). It is the perfect place to experience a true Aussie environment in a pristine national park. The park contains fabulous picnicking spots on manicured lawns with plenty of shade. There are underground caves to explore, a lake for canoeing and resident koalas and wallabies.
The beaches nearby at Yanchep and Two Rocks are fabulous, and the lagoon at Yanchep offers good swimming for littlies.
Just a 20 minute drive north of Yanchep is the Gravity Discovery Centre. It’s got heaps of interactive and hands on science displays and a 45m tower. A family day out with a difference!
Mullaloo Beach is a popular swimming beach, ideal for children of all ages, Take a dip in the refreshing waters or laze on the soft white sand. Enjoy a stroll, run or a bike ride on the beach paths that connect Mullaloo to neighbouring beaches along the coast. Children will enjoy playing in the superb playground facilities and parklands overlooking the beach.
Joondalup City Centre has a relaxed, casual atmosphere with a combination of cultural, civic, commercial and residential properties built on the edge of the stunning Lake Joondalup. Residents and visitors enjoy the cosmopolitan feel and excellent selection of restaurants and cafes.
Not far from Joondalup is Hillary’s Boat Harbour which is home to AQWA, with an awesome underwater experience for kids and school holiday activities at the aquarium.
