Geelong Gaol Museum

For 170 years, the three story, bluestone Geelong Gaol has overlooked the town of Geelong from behind its imposing gates. For 138 years it was a place of incarceration for men, women and children from all walks of life serving sentences imposed by the law of Geelong.

Today the Geelong Goal Museum is open to the public with a range of exhibitions from Stitched Up exploring the clothing of male convicts, Saga behind the Armour exploring the Kelly gang story to the brutal conditions prisoners endured and the execution display exploring the story of 6 men lost their lives at Geelong.

Once darkness falls, join Twisted History for nightly ghost tours, led by a character from the past as you explore the haunted halls and cells by lantern light sharing the stories of those who once lived behind these walls, many of whom never left …

Museum open 12-5 everyday
