Kids Day Out at Lanyon Homestead is a Spring celebration designed especially for families. Children can explore, create, and discover in the beautiful gardens and historic outbuildings of one of Canberra’s most loved heritage sites.

Families can join the Lanyon Stamp Rally, collecting stamps as they wander through the property, with the chance to enter a draw for a special prize. Creative activities include making a cyanotype print, a hands-on art experience that reveals the science of sunlight. At the Magnification Station, children can examine the fascinating details of plants and insects up close. Toddlers are not left out, with a dedicated sensory play area and rain painting activities designed just for them.

The event also offers the chance to step inside the nineteenth-century homestead and imagine life in the early days of the capital. Acres of lawns and gardens provide the perfect backdrop for picnics, games and family time. Food and drink are available, including homemade treats, ice cream and a classic sausage sizzle.
