Kids Festival Warrnambool
Kidfest Warrnambool is set to bring a lively weekend of creativity, hands-on learning and family-friendly entertainment to the south-west coast. Throughout the festival, children may encounter wandering characters, adding an extra element of fun. These appearances provide light-hearted interaction for kids in addition to the scheduled workshops.
The event offers a wide range of activities for children aged 2–12, with a dedicated space for those under two. Held entirely under marquees, the festival is designed to be weather-proof, accessible and easy for families to enjoy without stress.
Supported by Warrnambool City Council, Visit Victoria and local partners, the festival aims to create an engaging environment where kids can explore art, music, movement and imaginative play at their own pace.
Kidz Fest
Kidz Fest features sessions, each running for 35 minutes, with a 10-minute transition time between activities. Parents are encouraged to join in and support their children, especially families with kids participating in different age-group rooms.
A standout area of the event is the Little Hands & Big Imagination zone for under-twos. This space includes sensory play stations, a cosy story corner and a sandpit, offering simple and engaging play suited to early development.
Art and craft activities are a major highlight, led by Rainbow Art Studios. Children can join The Paint Lab, where they experiment with colour, patterns and simple techniques to create their own artwork. Other sessions focus on cutting, pasting and building small creations such as sticker sheets, fairy houses or rocket ships.
The festival also offers a basket weaving workshop, introducing kids to traditional craft using natural materials. Guided by skilled facilitators, participants can learn basic weaving skills while gaining an understanding of the cultural significance behind the craft.
For those who prefer physical activities, Martial Arts Mayhem introduces striking, balance drills and simple grappling in a supervised environment. The focus is on coordination, respect and confidence, not competition.
Tiny Performers brings theatre, role-play and music together. Children can take part in storytelling, movement and expressive play, while Music Extravaganza encourages them to sing, dance and experiment with rhythm. These workshops are led by facilitators who understand how to engage different age groups and keep sessions active and enjoyable.
Families can also enjoy animal experience, giving children the chance to meet and observe friendly farm animals. Staff are on hand to supervise.
The Garden Adventure workshop invites kids to get involved with planting and exploring soil, guided by local gardening enthusiasts. It’s designed to introduce simple concepts about nature and encourage curiosity about the outdoors.
Kids Festival
Kidfest is designed with family needs in mind. A pram parking area, parent room with baby change facilities, and accessible play zones help keep the event manageable for visitors with young children. The Beach Kiosk Café is located near the marquee, with additional food options available inside.
Families are encouraged to bring spare clothes, as many activities involve paint, water or outdoor materials. The festival’s layout makes it easy to move between workshops, and staff are present to assist if parents need to supervise multiple children across different sessions.
