Future Makers 2026 | STEM for Young Innovators (Ages 3–6)

Future Makers is GreenSTEM Education’s early-years STEM program designed specifically for children aged 3–6 years and their families.Building on the success of Little LEGO Learners, the program introduces young children to the foundations of science, technology, engineering and mathematics through engaging, hands-on experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, confidence and problem-solving.Delivered at The Makers Technology & Innovation Hub, Future Makers provides a welcoming and inspiring environment where children can explore, build, experiment and learn through play.The program is led by experienced early childhood educator Monica Edwards, with each session carefully designed to provide meaningful, age-appropriate STEM learning experiences for young children and their families.

Important Session Update

Future Makers now operates as one combined two-hour session each Thursday.Thursdays, 12:30 PM–2:30 PM

The session operates as a flexible drop-in and drop-out program, allowing families to arrive and leave at times that best suit their child and family circumstances.The two-hour session includes:12:30 PM–1:00 PM — Open STEM PlayChildren and families can freely explore a range of STEM equipment, construction resources, creative materials and hands-on activities.1:00 PM–2:00 PM — Guided STEM ChallengeParticipants are invited to join a guided STEM activity or challenge incorporating areas such as building, engineering, early robotics, computational thinking, problem-solving and collaborative learning.2:00 PM–2:30 PM — Open STEM Play and ExtensionFamilies can continue exploring the available resources, revisit activities, extend their learning or complete challenges at their own pace.Families are welcome to attend the full two-hour session or join us for the parts of the program that best suit them.

What to Expect

Across the program, participants will have opportunities to:🧠 Develop early problem-solving and critical-thinking skills🧩 Build and create using hands-on STEM tools and materials🤖 Explore introductory robotics, coding and engineering concepts🎨 Combine creativity, storytelling, design and construction🤝 Participate in guided group activities and collaborative challenges👨‍👩‍👧 Learn and explore alongside parents, carers and family membersFuture Makers also includes access to resources such as Sphero Indi robots, which are specifically designed to introduce young children to computational thinking and programming without screens. Children use colour-coded tiles and the robot’s sensors to create pathways, solve problems and explore early coding concepts through play.

Who Is This For?

Future Makers is designed for:

  • Children aged 3–6 years
  • Parents, carers and family members who would like to learn and participate alongside their child

A parent or carer must remain with their child and maintain supervision throughout the session.No previous STEM experience is required.

Registration

Families only need to register once through Humanitix.There is no need to register separately for each Thursday. Your registration covers ongoing participation in Future Makers, and families are welcome to attend as often as they are able during the remainder of the program.
