Throughout the years, restoration groups at both Inveresk and Don from the Don River Railway have devoted numerous hours to refurbishing locomotives and rolling stock. Step aboard one of these marvels and relish the magic of yesteryears.
About Don River Railway
Don River Railway is a not-for-profit organisation owned and operated by our members and volunteers and was established at Don in 1973, whilst the trains commenced operating in November 1976. Our achievements are the result of countless thousands of hours of voluntary labour provided by our members.
United by Community Spirit
At the heart of the Don River Railway beats a community-driven pulse. Volunteers, the backbone of this cherished project, dedicate their time and passion to ensure the trains chug on smoothly keep Tasmanian railway history alive. From track maintenance to managing the gift shop, these volunteers embody the spirit of community involvement.
If you would like to become a volunteer or perhaps grab a rule book to start your railway journey, please call us during their opening hours on (03) 6424 6335, drop by our station at Forth Rd, Don to fill in a membership form or feel free to email us donriver@donriverrailway.com.au to find out more information.
