Dunn Lewis Centre
Finding an activity that keeps different generations equally entertained can be a challenge on family holidays. The Dunn Lewis Centre, located at 141 St Vincent Street in Ulladulla, provides a spacious community hub where children, teenagers, parents, and grandparents can enjoy time together under one roof. Established in 2003 as a not-for-profit youth development foundation and dedicated memorial, the centre is a popular gathering place that directly funds youth training and local community programmes.
The main centre and bowling alley are open every day from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. Families can drop in for a casual game or book ahead to ensure a spot. The building is fully accessible, making it straightforward for visitors with prams or wheelchairs. Alongside the sports facilities, an on-site café serves a variety of food and drinks, offering a comfortable place to sit back and watch the action.
Bowling Nowra
For families looking to enjoy ten-pin bowling near the Nowra and Shoalhaven area, the centre features a modern 12-lane alley equipped with electronic computer scoring and automatic bumpers. Bumper bowling ensures that even the youngest players can join in without the frustration of gutter balls.
Prices are structured to keep family outings affordable. Adults can play one game for $13 AUD, two games for $20 AUD, or three games for $27 AUD. Concession rates are available at $10 AUD for one game, $15 AUD for two games, and $19 AUD for three games. All standard prices include bowling shoe hire. The only requirement for participants is to bring a pair of socks, though socks can also be purchased at reception if you happen to forget them.
The alley is highly accommodating for all abilities. It provides lightweight bowling balls, special ball ramps, and direct wheelchair access to the lanes, ensuring everyone can participate in a bit of friendly competition.
Things to Do in Ulladulla with Kids
Beyond the bowling lanes, the complex offers excellent recreational options that make it a standout choice for rainy days or high-energy afternoons. The centre features an indoor Clip & Climb wall, open daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. This climbing area utilises the Trublue Auto Belay system, which gently lowers climbers to the ground automatically, making it easy and safe for children to climb without needing a partner to hold the rope.
Climbing sessions cost $10 AUD for adults (30 minutes) or $15 AUD (60 minutes), while concession tickets are $8 AUD for 30 minutes and $12 AUD for an hour, with safety harnesses included. Bookings are essential for climbing, and all participants must wear sneakers. For safety, children under 13 must have their harness connections checked by an adult before heading up.
The centre is also a popular venue for stress-free birthday celebrations, offering tailored two-hour kids’ party packages for a minimum of eight children. These bookings include a choice of two 30-minute activities—such as bowling, climbing, gym, or games—alongside a party meal, juice, a decorated table, balloons, and party hats. Families can select from hot food menus featuring pizza, chicken nuggets and chips, or party pies and sausage rolls, making it a simple, well-coordinated destination for a fun day out.
