Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village is the most exciting and awarded maritime heritage precinct.
Families can explore the maritime village, board a tallship, climb up the lighthouse, feed the farm animals and learn about the maritime history of the Great Ocean Road.
The kids will enjoy all the shipwrecks stories, and will love the Sea Chest Challenge. An activity book they can fill out as they go around the village and museum.
At night the Shipwrecked Sound and Laser Show takes visitors on a dramatic journey on a ship as it sails towards Melbourne, only to meet its fate on the cliffs of the Loch Ard Gorge. The experience allows visitors to walk the streets of the village by night before being seated in the Wharf Theatre for the effect show.
Flagstaff Hill is also home the Middle Island Maremmas that are used to protect the local penguin colony from fox attacks. Don’t know what a Maremmas is? Those cute dogs in which were featured in Oddball! That movie was filmed on the Island.
