Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery
The Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery is a favourite stop for families exploring Victoria’s iconic coastal route. They have artisan chocolates, freshly churned ice cream, and a wide range of hands-on activities. It caters to visitors looking for something fun, tasty, and relaxed.
Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie
Chocolate Experiences for All Ages
The Chocolaterie offers a variety of workshops and tastings. Families can book chocolate-making sessions, sample handmade truffles, or join guided classes led by skilled Chocolatiers. These activities give visitors a clear look at how ingredients are sourced and transformed into bars, truffles, and ice creams.
Birthday Parties
The Chocolaterie has two structured children’s party packages that make celebrations easy to plan. The Children’s Birthday Party Package includes a decorated table, lunch options, party games, and a chance for each child to create a giant chocolate lollipop.
For something more involved, the Junior Chocolatier Class Birthday Package adds a supervised chocolate-making workshop in a Parent Free Zone. Children wear chef’s hats and aprons and take home several chocolate creations. Both packages cater for 10–18 children.
Kids’ Workshops and Tastings
Outside party bookings, children can take part in shorter activities. The Kids Tasting Session introduces them to cocoa, chocolate production, and some of the Chocolaterie’s most popular treats.
The Junior Chocolatier Class offers a 45-minute hands-on experience suited to ages 6–12, while the Giant Lollipop Making activity provides a quicker creative option.
School Tours and Educational Sessions
Primary and secondary schools can choose from several educational experiences, including tastings, chocolate-making activities, and curriculum-linked talks. Themes range from sustainability and food safety to business operations and pastry production.
Group Experiences
Adult groups and older teens can join workshops such as truffle tastings, Rocky Road sessions, and the Chocolate Discovery Masterclass. These experiences combine sampling with guided making activities and are suitable for corporate groups, clubs, or family outings.
High Tea
Private High Tea sessions feature pastries, ribbon sandwiches, scones, and chocolate-inspired desserts paired with tea, coffee, or hot chocolate. They also include insights from the Pastry Chefs and Chocolatiers, making them a relaxed option for small gatherings.
Great Ocean Road
The Great Ocean Road delivers Australia’s most spectacular coastal touring: world-famous limestone formations rising from the Southern Ocean, wild koalas munching eucalyptus metres above your head, thundering waterfalls through ancient rainforest, and charming seaside towns perfect for fish and chips overlooking the waves!
Travelling along the Great Ocean Road also gives families plenty of options to extend their day beyond the Chocolaterie. Nearby attractions and stops include:
Cheese World – a popular stop for cheese tastings, local produce, and regional history displays.
The Deep Blue – known for its hot springs, spa facilities, and family swimming areas.
Flagstaff Hill – a maritime village and museum offering interactive exhibits and coastal history.
City Bowls Club – a relaxed venue offering casual bowls sessions for visitors.
These stops make it easy to plan a full day or weekend in the area, combining food experiences, outdoor activities, local history, and family-friendly attractions.
