Western United FC

Western United FC

Officially founded in 2019, the club’s journey began much earlier, when former Socceroo Steve Horvat, in collaboration with Wyndham City Council, initiated talks about bringing professional football to the region in 2017. Just a year after, in 2018, the bid for a professional team was placed by the Western Melbourne Group, which was later successful, marking the start of an exciting chapter in Australian football history.

From the outset, Western United’s ambitions were clear: to create a team that would resonate with both local and national fans. In 2019, the club’s inaugural players, including Panagiotis Kone, Josh Risdon, and the iconic Alessandro Diamanti, marked the beginning of the Green and Black era.
