Tucked away in the scenic hills just outside Burnie, Wild on West is a one-of-a-kind destination that brings history, wildlife, and imagination together in one vibrant outdoor setting. Known for housing Tasmania’s tallest giraffe statue, this eye-catching attraction delights visitors of all ages with life-sized African animal sculptures, roaring dinosaurs, and live farm animals.
Visitors can step into an interactive world filled with themed zones, including African wildlife, the icy landscapes of the Ice Age, and the thrilling Jurassic period. A standout feature is “Rexy,” a life-sized animatronic T-Rex who comes to life twice daily with sound and movement—delivering an exciting surprise for kids and adults.
Families can also meet and feed friendly goats, alpacas, and colourful birds. Children can marvel at enormous replicas of elephants, rhinos, lions, and giraffes, and get up close with live animals in the small petting area.
