Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery
The Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery has become one of the most recognised food destinations in regional Victoria. Located in Yarra Glen, it draws visitors looking for handmade chocolate, freshly churned ice cream, relaxed dining and a straightforward day out in the Yarra Valley. It has free entry, with wide open grounds and an on-site café.
Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery
The Chocolaterie was founded in 2012 by Ian and Leanne Neeland, who transformed a Yarra Valley property into a dedicated space for chocolate and ice cream production. Today, the venue receives more than a million visitors a year and continues to expand, with sister locations along the Great Ocean Road and the Mornington Peninsula.
A key feature of the Yarra Glen site is its open-plan showroom filled with more than 480 handmade chocolate products. Through large viewing windows, visitors can watch Chocolatiers preparing truffles, bars, barks and seasonal creations. Much of the chocolate uses sustainably sourced cocoa, produced in partnership with the Cocoa Horizons program.
The Chocolaterie also runs daily tastings, workshops and classes. These include hands-on chocolate making sessions and guided tastings that explain ingredients, sourcing and production. For school groups and private events, educational tours and team-building activities are also available.
Alongside chocolate, the venue produces 24 flavours of artisan ice cream on site. The ice cream is made in small batches, slowly churned for texture, and uses premium ingredients without preservatives or artificial flavours. Flavours rotate regularly and cover standards like vanilla, chocolate and strawberry, as well as seasonal and festival-inspired options.
For food, the all-day café serves breakfast, lunch and a steady range of pastries and desserts. Popular items include brownies, rich hot chocolates, high tea sessions on selected dates, and a kids’ menu.
Indoor and outdoor seating overlooks the surrounding gardens and farmland, and guests are free to walk the grounds or visit the resident farm animals.

Visitors will easily find photo opportunities around the property. The showroom’s large displays, the landscaped gardens and the production windows are often photographed. Seasonal events—such as the Ice Cream Festival, Christmas installations or special chocolate displays—also draw plenty of attention on social media. Outdoor areas provide views of Yarra Glen’s farmland, giving the location a distinctly regional backdrop.
Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery Menu
The café menu covers brunch items, lunch dishes, pastries, sundaes, and a wide selection of hot and cold chocolate drinks. While menus change throughout the year, typical options include waffles, scones, sandwiches, salads and house-made desserts. High tea sessions offer a set selection of sweet and savoury items paired with hot beverages.
Ice cream is available by the scoop or in take-home tubs. Dairy-friendly, gluten-friendly and sorbet options are usually included. During the annual Ice Cream Festival, special flavours rotate daily and tasting sessions allow visitors to sample multiple varieties at once.
