Creative Journalling at Burnie Library

Facilitated by Judy Radford, Transpersonal Art Therapist.

Creative Journalling is on the last Monday of each month from 10am to 12pm. Meeting at the big table on the Ground Floor of Burnie Library.

Come along to create, connect, be inspired and inspire.

Please bring your own favourite art and crafting supplies to your first session and if you don’t have any or are feeling unsure, then please come along and see what it is all about before purchasing anything new.
The following is a basic guide to the type of resources you may wish to bring/use for ongoing sessions:

  • A5/A4 sketch book or art journal
  • Portable art supplies: pencils, markers, crayons, pastels, watercolour paints;
  • Glue stick, sharp scissors, old magazines, stickers, stamps;
  • A couple of different sized paint brushes, water jar and cloth.

Regularly participating in art and craft activities is not only a lot of fun it can also improve our wellbeing including the following benefits:

  • improving mood and self-confidence,
  • reducing stress,
  • enhancing mental agility,
  • improving gross and fine motor movement,
  • decreasing cognitive decline, and
  • connecting with others.

FAQ

Will I need to print my ticket?
No, a physical ticket is not required if you have your ticket on your phone or have photo ID.

Where can I park?
There is metered parking outside the entrance of the library on Alexander Street. Varying Times -Easy Park App available
King Street carpark has early bird parking rates before 10am. Varying Times – Easy Park App available
Civic Centre Carpark – Varying Times – Easy Park App available

Are there disabled parking spots?
There are 2 signposted disabled spots directly in front of the library. You will need to display your permit to park here.

Is the library accessible for wheelchairs?
There is a wheelchair ramp at the front entrance to the Burnie Library and an elevator located inside the library at the back of the building.

Are there baby feeding and changing facilities?
There is a unisex public toilet adjacent to the children’s playroom with a baby change table. We also have a small room near the children’s area for feeding.

Are there toilets in the library?
There are public toilets on the ground floor of the library with both public and private cubicles.

Is there food and drinks available in the library?
The Library Bean Café is open from 9:30am-4:00pm Monday to Thursday and 9:30am-1:30pm Friday with a selection of snacks, hot and cold drinks with gluten free and vegetarian options available.
