This December South Melbourne Market will come alive with festive fun! There is loads happening, from festive decorations, free live music and roving performances and fun for the whole family.
Santa visits the Market – Thu 22, Fri 23 and Sat 24 December 11am – 1pm

Giant Candy Canes - Thu 22 December 11am – 1pm
Witness the jolly nature of the Giant Candy Cane duo as they zip past shoppers, giving you a sugar hit with their high energy and playfulness. Towering at 3.6 metres and 2.5 metres, the Giant Candy Canes are the most incredible Christmas entertainment you have ever seen!
Junior Chef Cooking Program
A seasonal cooking program aimed at primary school-aged children. The program will take kids (aka our Junior Chefs!) on a hands-on shopping experience at the Market, in search of ingredients using a Clue Card. Parents/Carers will receive a Helper Card which has all the answers to the clues as well as what stalls the ingredients are available from.
Kids can meet traders and learn about seasonal produce and food literacy throughout their journey, with excitement building as they try and figure out what the recipe might be!
Junior Chef | South Melbourne Market
Lunar New Year Dragon and Lion Dancers – 21 Jan 10am – 12pm
Celebrate Lunar New Year with traditional Dragon and Lion Dancers as they dance around the Market, bringing in the Year of the Tiger. The Dragons are said to drive away evil spirits and will be ushering in good luck and blessings to the community.
