This April the National Museum of Australia is offering a range of exciting programs for children aged from 3 to 10 years.
Tim and Gina Fairfax Discovery Centre
The Tim and Gina Fairfax Discovery Centre at the National Museum of Australia is a fun, immersive play space for children of all abilities from birth to 6 years and their families and carers.
The Discovery Centre tells five stories from Australian history, each one encouraging different types of play. Children will discover Wambuwuny the kangaroo; Chris, the world’s woolliest sheep; the Torres Strait Islander creation story of Gelam; Trim, a cat who sailed around Australia with Matthew Flinders and Bungaree; and the legendary Australian creature, the bunyip.
Sessions: Daily (75 minutes) from 9.15am
Cost: $10 child, $5 adult, $30 family ticket (2 adults and 3 children or one adult and 4 children), entry is free for adults and children with a Friends membership.

Build a bunyip workshop
Celebrate the launch of The Bunyip and the Stars by Adam Duncan and Paul Lalo, the National Museum of Australia’s new picture book inspired by the Tim and Gina Fairfax Discovery Centre. Join Adam to explore the stories about the bunyip and make your own clay statue of a fearsome or funny bunyip to take home. Recommended for ages 3–6 years.

Autumn school holiday program: Bunyip and the Stars
Discover the legend of the bunyip as told by Adam Duncan in his new book, The Bunyip and the Stars. Join an expert from Mount Stromlo Observatory to hear stories about the stars and create your own constellation to take home. Recommended for ages 5–10 years.
Dates: Weekdays from Tuesday 11 April to Thursday 20 April 2023
Sessions: 9.30 –10.30am and 11am–12pm
Cost: $15 child, $12 Friends members, adults free

Discover and Do
Young learners will discover a world of art, music, movement and sensory play in our Discover and Do sessions. Designed for children aged 3 to 5 years, these programs will help develop their physical and cognitive abilities. Discover and Do sessions can be combined with a session in the Tim and Gina Fairfax Discovery Centre.
Date: Last Wednesday of the month from April to August, October and November
