Perth’s biggest child-led makers market gives more than 15 young creators the chance to turn their weekend hobbies into a real business.
This October, more than 15 school-aged children will step into the world of entrepreneurship as Little Sprouts Child-Led Makers Market gives young creators the opportunity to showcase and sell their unique creations in a hands-on learning experience.
From customer service and communication to problem-solving, pricing, money management, and decision-making, participants will develop valuable life skills in a fun, supportive, and family-friendly environment. Visitors can expect a diverse range of products created by the young entrepreneurs, including slime bars, novelty toiletry bags, customised fidget clickers, baked goods, and much more.
Created by Lydia, founder of Empowered Little Voices, the event is built around a simple but powerful idea: children should be given opportunities to explore their ideas, build confidence, and develop practical skills in ways that are engaging and age-appropriate.
For Lydia, the event is about much more than a school holiday activity.
“I wanted to create an opportunity where children could experience entrepreneurship in a way that feels exciting, achievable, and genuinely theirs. We talk so much about preparing children for the future, but sometimes the best way to teach them is simply to give them the opportunity to try.”
She added:
“I want to help the next generation learn and grow beyond the classroom, nurture their creative minds, and empower them to pursue whatever they set their minds to.”
To bring the concept to life, Lydia has personally invested her time and resources and partnered with 11 Acre Farm, a family-friendly destination committed to creating healthier communities through connection to food, nature, learning, and one another.
Families are invited to celebrate the end of the spring school holidays with an afternoon of shopping, creativity, and connection. Visitors can browse the market stalls, enjoy food and refreshments from the café, visit the farm animals, and let younger children explore the venue’s popular Cubby Lane play area.
A Market Where the Sellers Are the Kids
For shoppers, this is an opportunity to discover unique handmade products while supporting young people as they take their first steps into entrepreneurship. Every purchase directly encourages a child to build confidence, develop new skills, and pursue their ideas.
An Idea With Bigger Ambitions
While this is the first event of its kind in Perth, Lydia hopes it will be the beginning of something much bigger.
Through Empowered Little Voices, her mission is to create meaningful opportunities that help children find their voice, understand their capabilities, and develop practical skills that will stay with them long beyond childhood.
